Planning Board – RSA 673:2
The Surry Planning Board guides the development and land use within the town. Their duties include:
- Creating and updating the Master Plan: This plan outlines the long-term vision for the community’s growth and development.
- Reviewing and approving subdivision and site plans: They ensure that new developments comply with local regulations and are in line with the community’s goals.
- Proposing zoning amendments: They recommend changes to zoning ordinances to the local legislative body.

Working with other boards and organizations: They collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure cohesive planning and development
The Planning Board meets at the Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. If you would like to present a plan or proposal to the Board, please email the topic and date of the meeting you would like to attend so that you can be put on the agenda.
All meetings are open to the public and subject to the provisions of NH RSA 91-A:2.

Surry Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) – RSA 673:3
The Surry Zoning Board of Adjustment handles appeals and requests for exceptions to the zoning ordinance. Their responsibilities include:

- Issuing special exceptions: They permit certain uses of land that are not typically allowed under the zoning ordinance but can be approved under specific conditions.

- Interpreting the zoning ordinance: They clarify the meaning and application of zoning regulations
